1001 N Branch St, a concrete warehouse building complex on Goose Island of Chicago that boasts panoramic views of the Chicago Loop skyline, is being reimagined by R2 Development, a firm known for its bold and innovative adaptive reuse projects. SEEK was commissioned to design their new headquarters office within this evolving industrial landscape. The existing structure, with its exposed exterior wall - a remnant of a previous demolition - presented a unique opportunity. The facade design seamlessly merges the building's gritty, industrial past with a modern, light-filled workspace by incorporating glazed walls and recessed outdoor balconies. The raw concrete texture of the warehouse is celebrated, providing a dramatic backdrop for the enclosed offices strategically nestled within skylit open office areas.
